Do you ever stand in the kitchen with hands on hips and think, "What am I going to cook today?" I hope to inspire you with a mixture of quick recipes from the pantry and my original creations that are full of flavor and flair. Let me know what you think! My mantra is, "If you love it, feed it."(TM) So come along on my journey to feed the ones I love!

Why does a cooking girl have the name Physicschick? Good question! I am definitely a multifaceted soul. Born in Houston, I grew up on a farm in central Texas where the grass was tall, the walks were long, and the skies were full of stars.

I consider myself a modern, old-fashioned girl. Those seem to be mutually exclusive descriptors, but they do not have to be. I love to cook, knit, take care of my children and husband, and do all of those "old-fashioned" things. I collect Fire King dishes and have a modest collection of hobnail milk glass. Therein lies the domestic goddess side of the Physicschick.

My love of the stars and my inclination towards things mechanical led me to earn a degree in Physics from Texas A&M University. Whoop! I was always at the side of my Daddy and my Paw as they worked in the shop and in the field on everything from lawn mower engines to hay bailers. I knew how to set the gap on a spark plug when I was about 9 years old. I helped my Daddy when ever I could, and he always encouraged me to do and learn everything that I could. It didn't matter that I was a girl. I hauled hay, bailed hay, showed steers in the local livestock shows, fixed fences, drove tractors, planted corn, and worked cows with my family.

After earning my physics degree, I began teaching high school physics and did so for 12 years. The best part of teaching, for me, was my students. I was privileged to meet and bond with some of the most unique young men and women that I have ever met. They each hold a very special place in my heart. During that time, I became a mother to my dear, sweet son. Life had its ups and downs, as everyone's does. And long story short... my marriage ended and I re-evaluated what I wanted out of life.

I am now married to my high school crush and man of my dreams. We have a new baby boy, and a wonderful, happy family. I have decided to take my love of cooking and family and combine it with my loquacious nature to create a hopefully interesting and informative blog.
